THE ONE HEEL WORTH INVESTING IN
August 7, 2017

Best Rooftops in NYC

If you have been following along for awhile now, you may know I focus a good deal on budget friendly pieces. That said, I also have a few investment pieces that I absolutely love and try and mix and match these staples with pieces from other price points (I really do try hard to style realistic outfits that you can replicate without breaking the bank). I know I have mentioned it before, but I believe that every gal needs one (or two….a neutral and a black) pairs of designer heels in their closet. My favorite happen to be my classic Christian Louboutin pumps that are timeless and virtually go with anything. I can dress them down a bit with denim (as shown below) or pair them with a fancy dress for a special occasion.

A little tip when investing in anything designer, make sure you take the time to take care of them! For these heels, after I wear them, I take a gentle (non-alcohol) baby wipe and wipe down the inside and outside of the shoe. I also keep all of the stuffing and re-stuff the toes before putting them back inside the box to help hold the shape. Also, I wish I knew about this sooner, but a lot of shoe makers can place a clear protectant on the bottom on the heel to help preserve the classic red bottom. I would HIGHLY recommend doing this if you haven’t worn your heels yet or if they are still in pretty good shape!

When looking for designer pieces, I typically start my search at Nordstrom. I am signed up for their store card, so constantly am receiving Nordstrom “notes” in the mail that I can use the credit toward any purchase. Also, they have a huge designer section, which makes navigating their site particularly easy. I have had my eye on these loafers for awhile now and keep debating if I should pick them up for fall/winter.

If you are wondering what the pretty backdrop is in the photos below, it is the Public Hotel on the Lower East Side. It opened a few months ago, and we finally got around to checking it out last night. It really  has the most epic skyline view! Also, the lobby was gorgeous and the staff was actually very friendly (not the pretentious feel that I was expecting).  If you are planning a trip to NYC and want to check out a new hotel, I would add this to your shortlist.
