SUEDE JACKET
February 4, 2016

Last weekend Matt and I headed down to the Lower East Side because we had been wanting to try Freemans (I’ve always heard of this restaurant and its unique location tucked in the back of this cute alleyway). We don’t live all that far from this part of town, but don’t make it down here during the day as much as I would like. Freemans itself is such an adorable restaurant- I love the decor and layout of the various rooms. But unfortunately our experience there was not as charming and the food was sub-par. I know a lot of people ask questions and for recommendations about New York City, so I always want to keep things honest!  Matt and I both grew up working in the restaurant business for many years so we really are not difficult customers because we know how stressful things can be. Maybe it was an off day for the restaurant (as I know so many people that love this place), but the service was really bad and our entrees were just not very good. That being said, I would totally recommend Freemans to grab a drink since the decor is so unique, and for an order of their artichoke dip, which was delicious!

There is a silver lining to this story, however, that can be summed up in one word: Taquitos. After brunch did not go as planned, and Matt was still hungry we stumbled upon this BOMB taquitos joint a few blocks away and indulged in a second meal for about $6…I’ll take it! I just read on the website that this is a “San Diego” inspired restaurant, which is where I will be spending this weekend. Now, I’m even more excited to indulge in some seriously good mexican food all weekend! If you have any recommendations, let me know.  First-timer here!
