Summer weekend getaways are by my favorite. Don’t get me wrong, I love living in NYC, but once the weather starts to warm up I live for the weekends away spent by the water or at either of our families in the suburbs (nothing beats fresh air, grilling out and enjoying a glass of wine on the deck). This upcoming Father’s Day weekend Matt, Logan, Hadley and I are headed up to Newport, Rhode Island and I can’t wait!
When it comes to packing for a getaway this time of year, I typically stick with dresses, rompers and jumpsuits to make things easy. You don’t have to worry about matching tops with bottoms and each piece can usually be dressed up or down by simply swapping out your shoes. Banana Republic has so many cute options right now and I recently snagged this jumpsuit (3 colors) and utility shirt dress (also comes in olive).
My favorite thing about a classic shirt dress, like the one styled below, is that for summer you can also wear it as a beach cover up, leaving it unbuttoned or even just buttoning a few with your swimsuit underneath. Such a quick way to go from pool/beach to happy hour or dinner out! You could also toss on a pair of heels and dress it up a bit as well.
As for the jumpsuit, I love the utility style. While I paired it here with nude block heels, I also think it would look adorable with a pair of casual sneakers for exploring wherever you are headed. Toss a denim jacket overtop for when it cools down and you are good to go for night!
A FEW DRESSES, ROMPERS + JUMPSUITS I AM LOVING…
A big thanks to Banana Republic for partnering on this post!
