If you live in or around New York city or are looking for a fun weekend getaway, I can’t suggest Lake Placid enough! It is perfect year around, but winter is definitely one of my favorites. This past weekend 13 of us (all friends from college) rented a house from AirBNB right on Mirror Lake for the long weekend. Temps were in the negatives and we truly were just looking forward to hunkering down, cooking a “family” dinner, drinking some wine and having endless fires burning. It was the perfect relaxing weekend away out out of the city.
Any time Matt and I have headed here from the city, we have found the easiest way to get there is to drive. I had an opportunity to work with Lexus and borrow their 300NX hybrid SUV for our trip which came in handy considering we had about 8-10 inches of snow the first day there! I kept joking with Matt the entire way that if felt as if I was driving on clouds. It was my first time driving a hybrid and now I fully understand all the hype!
Matt and I visited Lake Placid this time last year and I wrote a more detailed post on the 10 reasons why to visit Lake Placid in the winter here. Since I spilled all the details on some of our favorite things to do, see and eat in that post, this post is filled with some candid snaps from the weekend. Our friends all agreed that we needed to make this an annual trip and we even started looking for places to come back this summer as we heard it is just as magical!
