TABLE TALK TUESDAY

Today’s Table Talk Tuesday is all about my recent girls trip to Miami. It was my first time in the city and I was there for one of my best girlfriend’s bachelorette parties. We (mostly all New Yorkers) fully embraced the 85 degree weather and had such a blast from start to finish. While I can’t take any credit for planning the activities, I know planning these type of gatherings can be stressful, so I am listing out our itinerary and a few other helpful things (such as what I packed) for traveling to Miami and maximizing your time spent there.

Itinerary:

Thursday – This night the majority of our group arrived, but didn’t get in until about midnight (thank you flight delays). We rushed to the hotel to put our stuff down and change quick before heading out for a bite to eat at The Broken Shaker. It had a more hipster vibe and overall relaxed feel, perfect for just getting off a plane. We sat outside in the garden area and which was filled with tea lights strung from above.  With knowing we would be arriving late, we had to pre-order our food and drinks about three days in advance because the kitchen closed at midnight. They were extremely accommodating, even with getting there 45-60 minutes after we had originally planned. With a larger group we had to do a punchbowl reservation, which basically just required us to purchase a large bowl of a mixed cocktail — which was indeed delicious!

What we ordered:

  • Punchbowl – “Refreshing” —  citrus, cucumbers, rosemary, lemon, sage
  • Spicy Cauliflower with a Housemade Cashew Butter — by far my FAVORITE thing we ordered!! I seriously need to figure out how to make these or get them flown to NYC.
  • Quesadilla — these were not a crowd favorite (and usually I am a big fan), they were just a tad too greasy and soggy.
  • Sliders — So good! Whatever sauce they use is delicious.
  • Guacamole — Very yummy, can’t go wrong and we loved that they added big strips of pickled onions to the top.

Friday – We were staying at the Shore Club so just headed out to the beach right from there. It was a beautiful day without a cloud in the sky so we maximized our time there. We ordered lunch on the beach from the hotel (each hotel has a similar option) and then for dinner headed to The Continental, one of Stephan Starr’s restaurants. There is another branch of this restaurant where I grew up in Philadelphia and it remains one of my favorites. We all sat outside and enjoyed cocktails and lots of Asian Fusion bites. Make sure you try the cheesesteak spring rolls, this restaurant was started in Philadelphia so trust me, they are the real deal!

Afterwards we headed to LIV, which is a popular night club and enjoyed a night of dancing and a special appearance from Lil Jon who came on and DJ’d. How the club scene works, is that you will tend to meet a ton of promoters while on the beach in Miami. Surprisingly, it wasn’t sketchy at all and honestly the best way to get into a club you want for a pretty good deal. We were able to get transportation from dinner to Liv and a table with a bottle for $40 per person. It was such a fun night filled, and I feel like we really experienced the Miami scene.

Saturday – We headed over to SLS to experience one of their pool parties. We had made a reservation in advance (before arriving to Miami) and were set up with a spot right next to the pool. These pool parties get packed, but truly are so much fun and a bachelorette must! Great music and an overall fun atmosphere. Here is a list of some of Miami’s best pool party spots (SLS included).

Saturday night we took it easy and had previously made a reservation at Cecconi’s, a rustic Italian cuisine with LOTS of charm. Our menu was pre-selected (and customized for the bride-to-be) which made things super easy once we got there. Everything was served family style – my favorite, I always love being able to sample a bunch of different things. Needless to say, we were stuffed and exhausted at the end of the day and decided to call it a night!

Sunday – Early on in planning this trip, the majority of us decided to stay for the full day on Sunday to make the most of our time spent (and avoid the “Sunday scaries” as long as possible). The bride’s fiance’s old boss graciously invited us into his beautiful home on Sunset Island and wined and dined us for a wonderful Sunday brunch. We ate outside and sat by the pool soaking in the last of the Miami heat before heading back to the city. It was one of the best weekends and girls trips we have had in awhile and I can’t wait for many more!
