This post was inspired by my adventure to Marshalls this past Monday. As some of you might have seen on my instagram (@styledsnapshots), I discovered my dream skirt, which I have been searching forever for — ok, maybe that’s exaggeration, but it certainty feels like it! As I walk into Marshalls, with shopping bags weighing me down and a hyper puppy in toe, I noticed a beautiful feather skirt wedged into what looked like a never ending sea of clothes. I hold nothing back as I leap towards this beauty. There it was was, the Kate Spade feather skirt, all mine at last. I somehow restrain myself from looking like a crazy person and scream out with excitement.
Then reality set in, and my moment of sheer elation quickly dissipates as I read the price-tag– $300. Granted, this masterpiece was original $698 so this was quite a deal. But hey, I am a girl on a budget, living in one very expensive city. As much as I wish I could have written off the $300, I could not rid the suffocating guilty feeling of sticking to my budget. Although I was disappointed, I was determined to search for a similar skirt that fit the budget, and still looked great. So there ya have it ladies, the decision to forgo the skirt was made, and this post was created — the look for less.
Also, boyfriend, if you read this, I called Marshalls and they put the skirt on layaway for 30 days (hint hint hint… it would look perfect under our Christmas tree!)
