TRANSITIONAL FALL STYLE

the sound view greenport

I just got back from the best weekend in Greenport, out in the North Fork. For those that may not be familiar, the North Fork is the northern peninsula at the end of Long Island. Before this trip, I’ve only ever visited the Southern Peninsula, where the Hamptons are located. And I’m happy to report back that I absolutely loved it here! This town will 100% be joining my rotation of favorite places to head to for a quick weekend getaway. I’ll be doing a full recap of my trip later this week, but in the meantime I wanted to share some photos taken around our hotel, the Sound View Greenport

Matt and I decided last minute (meaning like Tuesday before the weekend) to go out East when we saw how beautiful the forecast was. Luckily, someone canceled their room at this particular hotel and we were able to snag it. It’s a really unique spot in that it’s an old 1950s style motel that was recently converted to a more high-end property with modern finishes. The renovation was really beautifully done – the rooms have a clean design with a lot of character, and the new restaurant and lounge are the perfect spots to dine, enjoy some vino, and relax. The best part is the hotel sits right on the water (as you can see from these pictures), with literally every room having a waterfront view. The sunsets also happen to fall on the bay side here, making this location the best venue in twn to take in sunset. However, the only drawback to this particular property is that it is located about 2 miles from the center of town. They do have bikes for rent, which we took full advantage of on Saturday. However, uber is less developed out here, so we had to spend a good amount for taxis as night.

Throughout the weekend, in the mornings it was pretty cool and hazy, but then warmed up to truly perfect weather, reaching the low 80s both days. Ā To deal with the fluctuating weather throughout the day, I made sure to pack lots of layers, and of course to bring a bag big enough to store these layers. Ā This particular bag from Sole Society was truly versatile enough to fit all my needs this weekend – and good thing as it was the only one I packed. I loved pairing it with these comfortable booties, also from Sole Society. When looking for shoes for a weekend away with the hubs comfort is key as he usually has me trekking all over to explore every inch of a new place!
