HOW TO FIND THE PERFECT PAIR OF DENIM

the perfect fit denim

I find the process of searching for that perfect pair of denim jeans to often be a big headache. Over the past few years I think I have learned a thing or two to make the process easier and thought I would share my top five pairs of denim that I truly love. I know when it comes to jeans, everyone has different preferences, styles, body types etc., but a few tips and tricks will hopefully help cut your search process in half. I am that girl that needs to learn through trial and error, so typically order one too many pairs to try out, keep the ones that work and then send back the rest.

A few easy tips to remember:

Always, and I mean ALWAYS read the reviews!! I find that reading reviews while shopping online helps immensely, especially when looking into a new brand. Reviewers often leave sizing suggestions, if the pant has stretch or not and if they look like the photo when receiving in person. More times then not I have been in a rush and just quickly placed shorts, pants, etc. into my cart and after a few clicks my items are on the way. Once I get the package I get so frustrated when the sizing doesn’t work to then resort back to looking at the reviews where I would have prevented this in the first place.

Don’t be afraid to cut your jeans to the length, type of hem, etc. that you prefer! These scissors work best and my biggest piece of advice is if you own a pair of denim that you love where the hem hits your ankle, use them as a guide when cutting your new pair.

Take advantage when online stores offer free shipping both ways! I usually buy way too many jeans just so I can try a bunch of styles and some that have mixed sizing reviews I will buy two sizes and keep whichever works best.

5 FAVORITE PAIRS OF DENIM:

Black Denim – I have worn this pair from Madewell so much I think they finally faded to a dark grey color. Madewell in a whole has some of my favorite high-waisted denim and at a pretty affordable price point. I prefer the 9-inch high rise, but if looking for even more of a waist they also offer a few styles in 10-inch.

Distressed Denim – Okay, this is why I say reading reviews matter! Lev’s makes some of my FAVORITE distressed denim (I own this pair – size up, this pair – size up + this pair – tts). Two of these jeans I had to size up in because there is zero stretch (all mentioned in the reviews) and one pair I took my normal size. I know us females are found of when we have to go up one size, BUT these jeans are great and like I mentioned, my favorite distressed styles. Also, all three pairs of these jeans are on sale for 20% off (ending today) with code: EOTS17

Most FlatteringDL1961 Florence Instasculpt jeans. I have this pair and they are my favorite non-distressed pair I own!

Affordable, but great quality and fit – I know this mat seem like a throwback to middle school and high school days, but Abercrombie’s denim game is on point lately! Some of my most worn denim is from here. I find all their denim to be true to size and they continue to keep up with the latest trends and their jeans often go on sale for $39 a pair! My most recent style from here is this high rise, distressed pair.

Splurge Worthy – I picked up this pair of AG denim with a raw hem (obsessed) during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. After reading and hearing about so many great reviews on these jeans I had to give them a try. They are SO comfortable, classic with a hint of trend and make your legs look like a million bucks! When something just works, I say go for it and make the investment!
