If you have been following along via social media, you may know that I escaped the city and headed to one of my favorite places for the summer, Fire Island! My in-laws are so gracious and have rented a house here for the entire family for the past two summers and I look forward to the next summer the day after our vacation ends. There will be a full post coming about where we stay each year and why I find this magical place so special, but I thought today I would start with a quick trip we took for dinner over to Ocean Beach.

If you aren’t familiar with Fire Island, there are no cars allowed (which is INCREDIBLE), so to get from town to town you hop on and off a water taxi. We headed over to Ocean Beach to enjoy dinner on the water at Maguire’s right around sunset. Truly the best of both worlds! Matt and I used to come to Ocean Beach for a long weekend with our friend’s right out of college for a few years in a row. On the weekends it definitely has more of a night life feel than any of the other towns, but during the week consists of a more family friendly vibe which is exactly what we were looking for.

Ocean Beach has a few of my favorite things that I associate Fire Island with, Scoops is my favorite place to grab ice cream, Rachel’s Bakery has iced coffee that is so yummy and cookies that are the size of your head and I can’t forget about Tony’s Pizza where they have the ever-so-famous cold pizza slice (a regular slice of pizza with cold mozzarella on top….it’s A-MAZING)!

The nights can cool off, so I opted for this oversized sweater and distressed white denim for dining outdoors. Urban Outfitters has such a great selection of summer sweaters and comfy denim, but I did find I had to go up a size in these pants (and their BDG line) in particular. One of my favorite combos of all time is a summer sweater paired with shorts or jeans…nothing beats this beach chic look!
