HOW TO BE THE MOST PRODUCTIVE THROUGHOUT THE DAY
January 18, 2017

I swear the weather warms up to the 40’s and I pretty much think it’ spring! After having freezing cold weather for a few weeks I look forward to spending a little extra time outdoors (as does Hadley). While the stores are starting to fill their shelves with warm weather items, I know I can’t go into full-on spring mode, but I can start to lighten up my wardrobe by adding more spring like tones such as this tote and scarf from Sole Society. If you are still in the market for some winter pieces, they are currently having a Winter Sale event with 50% off select styles!

After a weekend away, I always find myself trying to catch up on everything when I am back to work and in the city. I have discovered lately that instead of feeling overwhelmed the entire day and not even accomplishing what needs to be done, it is important to set time frames to take a mental break, walk outside and do something a little less productive in order to recharge and get back to work. For awhile I always thought that this was precious time being lost, but have come to realize it is much needed.

Here are my top recommendations for having the most productive day.

  1. Set an alarm throughout the day as a reminder to stop what you are doing, get up and move around. The best is when you can head outdoors for some fresh air, but even switching gears and doing something around your home can be a nice mental break.
  2. Make a date. Whether you are meeting a friend for coffee or heading to a gym class I find that if I have previously committed to something I am less likely to back down.
  3. Make a list. I am a HUGE list person and love crossing things off. It helps me remain focused on what need to get accomplished.
  4. Start with your hardest and longest tasks first thing in the morning. I feel like I have a fresh mind at the start of the day so try and do my most challenging tasks first.
  5. Set an end time. I could work 24/7 if I didn’t force myself to stop. At times I am horrible at listening to my own tip, but really try and set a deadline in the day where I just turn it all off, focus on me as well as Matt and Hadley 🙂
