The holidays in New York City are my absolute favorite. Each year I make a list of things I want to do and places I want to see this time of year and try my absolute hardest to cross each thing off my list. There is something so magical being here this time of year and I try and remember how fortunate I am to call such a beautiful place my home.
Matt and I spent the weekend uptown grabbing brunch at the Plaza Hotel (decorated beautifully inside), walking along Central Park and doing some holiday shopping down Fifth Avenue. The mornings have been extra chilly lately, so we made sure to bundle up before heading out the door.
Express has been one of my go-to places to shop lately (if you follow along this is no surprise), and their coat selection is great for both men and women. I love this faux-fur hooded parka, it comes in two colors and the hood can easily detach if you prefer. I went with the olive green color, it is one of my favorites for this time of year as my wardrobe is filled with deeper tones and lots of neutrals. Matt’s camel colored wool topcoat is a must have staple coat for a guy in my opinion. It can easily be dressed up or down and the camel color goes with pretty much anything.
If you are in the city this time of year, I would recommend getting up early and hitting the streets. The stores may not be open yet (depending how early you get up), but their window displays are up and the streets are super quiet. In my opinion it is the best way to enjoy the city this time of year without a huge crowd. Matt and I walked up and down fifth avenue enjoying the window displays, grabbed coffee and a bite to eat and then hit the stores once they were open!
