The other weekend I attended a wedding down at the beach and fell in love with the colors, pattern and style of this Parker maxi dress. One of the most frequent questions I tend to get this time of year is what to wear for attending a summer or beach wedding. Picking out something to wear can be a bit overwhelming, so I thought I would list out a few tips to make the selection process easier.
Find out the color of the bridesmaid dresses ahead of time if possible. I always try and choose my dress in a color(s) that are different so there is no chance of blending in.
Decide if you want to wear a long or short dress. If part of the ceremony or reception is outside, the weather can often cool down so I tend to gravitate towards a maxi dress for a little extra warmth. If the wedding is completely indoors, a shorter dress can be the perfect option, especially if you are a big dancer and are on the dance floor. When I wear longer dresses I tend to just hold them up or tie it to the side white dancing which works well too.
Comfort! Listen to your instincts, as much as you want to look great in what you wear, you also want to be comfortable. The worst thing is having to pull and tug at your dress all night or be hesitant to raise your hands in the air in-case something slips out. Go with a style you have worn before that you know will be comfortable for a few hours.
My last tip isn’t dress related, but make sure you toss a pair of foldable flats or flipflops in your bag. I also always toss in a tiny reusable bag that I can put my heels and clutch in at the end of the night which will hold everything and I wont loose anything. Perfect for attending the after party and staying comfortable!
