Subbing out the typical Table Talk Tuesday post this week (don’t fret, the series will resume next week!) and sharing one of the cutest cold shoulder tanks for spring. Fortunately the weather turned out to be beautiful this past weekend, so I was able to bust out this top on Sunday for a friend’s party on the Upper East Side. The ruffle and bold button detail is was initially caught my eye, plus I love how there is a strap in addition to the off the shoulder cut.
When wearing a more free flow top like this one, I tend to gravitate towards something more fitted on the bottom. This helps to keep some shape to your body and not look completely boxy. High waisted jeans have been my best friend to wear with flowy topes like this — I have to admit that I feel a bit guilty ripping on my mom when she used to wear this style. The saying it so true, what goes around comes around…especially when it comes to fashion! She is totally getting the last laugh now, but honestly, high waisted jeans are the best! Maybe because I am not in my teens anymore, but I feel no need to expose my skin, especially at an occasion where it probably shouldn’t be. Adding a bit of height to your waistline helps keep things tucked in a bit. While these are my favorite blue denim pair, I just picked up the same style in white.Affordable and practical!
The party was at a restaurant that had a large (for NYC) outdoor area called Uptown Local. Total side note, but incase you ever go there, get the guacamole with shrimp and the kale salad with shrimp, you will not be disappointed!
