If you haven’t picked up on it already, I love spending as much time as I can outdoors and checking out new neighborhoods, or in the case of today’s post, visiting some of my favorite city hangouts. This past weekend, Matt, Hadley and I took the ferry across the east river into Brooklyn. You read correctly—there is in fact a ferry from 34th Street that makes drops all over Brooklyn and downtown Manhattan (I lived within blocks of this ferry for years and never took advantage of it!). It only costs a few dollars, runs every hour, and is SO much more enjoyable than the subway. On this day, we headed to DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass), where there is a beautiful renovated park with the best views of the BK Bridge and Manhattan skyline, an amazing restaurants selection, and some seriously good homemade ice cream!
Matt used to live nearby when in law school, so it’s an area I’m pretty familiar with, but have been long overdue for a visit. If you are ever looking for an elegant dinner with a beautiful view, you must try out the River Cafe — on the pricier side, but worth the splurge for a special occasion. Conviently across the dock is the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory. While the line is crazy on a beautiful day, it’s worth the wait. Trust me.
This pastel, sleeveless dress is lightweight and the easiest addition to your wardrobe for summer. If heading away for a weekend, it takes up virtually zero space in your bag and the pastel colors add a fun touch to a summer dress. And obviously goes great with ice cream!
