I am always on the hunt to try and mix and match pieces, as well as turn one item into something different…basically I like to get the best bang for my buck when it comes to creating outfits.  I decided to take one of my favorite J Crew dresses, that I hoarded away with tags still attached all summer to save for a September wedding, and transition it into a second look.  When I bought the dress I fell in love with the citrus color, but as we all know, that color is a bit more tricky to wear year round.  With a helpful suggestion by Jessica, from Bows & Sequins, of using a navy blazer to take citrus into this season, I decided to turn the dress into a skirt and downplay the look with a simple gold and cream striped top.  My boyfriend was very contradictory of covering up the dress with a shirt, but I was determined to make this look work and feel more comfortable wearing this color for weeks ahead!

(the two of them deep in thought, continuing to question my striped shirt thought process)
