How To: Shop TJ Maxx
September 19, 2013

Shopping is often defined as a hobby to some and a chore to others. Growing up my Mom would always tell me that I could go into a gas station and I would still find multiple things that I wanted to buy and could not leave without. While to this day I still devote endless hours walking around stores, there are some that have always overwhelmed me.

Department stores are heaven on earth to many, but quite frankly, I often stand there looking at the list of what is on each floor, with a puzzled look on my face not knowing where to begin. As much as I love TJ Maxx and the rest of their sister stores, I get the same overwhelming feeling when I walk in. Below is a simple list I compiled to make the best out of your TJ Maxx experience and turn you all into Maxxinista’s one item at a time.

Clockwise (starting top left): Rebecca Taylor Faux Fur Bomber Jacket- Retail $550, TJ Maxx $199 //  For Cynthia Faux Leather Sleeve Jacket- Retail $78, TJ Maxx $39 // Fenn Wright Manson Sweater- Retail $50, TJ Maxx $25 // Cynthia Rowley Blouse with Faux Leather Details- Retails $50, TJ Maxx $20

  • Pick a less popular TJ Maxx. I have the best luck when I am home visiting my parents in the suburbs as opposed to trying three different stores in the city with everything picked over
  • First check out the “Off the Runway” racks that are usually clumped together towards the front of the store. That is where I scored the Rebecca Taylor jacket (suburbs TJ Maxx) I had been eyeing for months, but it was sold out everywhere
  • Make sure to thoroughly check your items for any pulled threads or missing buttons
  • They now place red clamps you cut off when you are home, so make sure you love your item before cutting this red clamp off!
  • Don’t forget about the jewelry, they usually carry great statement pieces
(Will style these pieces in posts to come!)
