MULTI-STRIPE SWEATER
August 27, 2015

This past weekend I spent home in PA checking some bigger items off our wedding to-do list. Thus far I have been a pretty calm, go with the flow bride, but I am starting to understand crunch time stress and that every wedding has it’s stories. You might have seen on my instagram that I mentioned there were a few bumps in the wedding planning road. The saying goes that things come in three, and sure enough this happened to be the case.

The weekend started off with the mailman ringing my parent’s doorbell in order to return every single one of our invites, highlighted, stamped, stickered and honestly looked like they were dragged through dirt. For all you brides out there, I am not kidding when I say have the post office sign something saying your invites are in the clear weight/cost wise! My mom went two times to check (and double-check) that our invites were the correct stamp/weight, but in the end they failed to mention that they needed to be hand stamped because of the slight elevation created by the twine around the invitation (you can see our invites here). Needless to say, a frantic e-mail to Minted for an overnight deliver of new envelopes saved the day!

Second, I had my first dress fitting on Saturday and needed to bring my heels for accurate alterations. Of course I could not find my heels ANYWHERE in my parents house. My entire family searched high and low for about two hours (I wish I was kidding). It wasn’t until Matt and I ran to the mall and I had to settle for a different color and one size smaller, that my mom remembered the box of wedding items she created and put in  basement.  In the plastic bin, buried under christmas decorations, were the heels. Whew, another close one! (On a positive note, my fitting went AMAZING and I am more in love with my dress then the day I bought it).

Lastly, I received an e-mail that the last two (out of the eight) items I ordered as bridesmaid gifts were canceled and not to come back in stock. I already received the other six and was waiting on the final two that were on back order. After an unsatisfying chat on the phone with the company and feeling like tossing in the towel, I happened to be checking the site yesterday and they are fully restocked! So note to everyone, even if someone says that something is discontinued and you are out of luck, don’t give up.

Oh and Matt’s brothers decided that maybe it was time to book hotel rooms for his bachelor party in New Orleans next month only to find that there was not a single hotel room left in the city- let alone rooms for 15 guys. Luckily there was a big cancellation earlier this week and they were able to snag rooms. Have to admit it was funny to see Matt worried about something wedding-related (he doesn’t get very stressed over these other things ha) even if it was his bachelor party!!

I wanted to share these experiences as I can now look back and get some comic relief. The process of planning a wedding is filled with ups and downs, and a roller coaster of emotions. It is important to remember that in the big scheme of things what is most important is your wedding day and the journey leading up to it you will reminisce about for years to come.

Needless to say, I took advantage of the suburbs and took a long walk with Matt and Hadley to clear my mind. I kept things casual with this comfy stripe sweater and distressed boyfriends shorts to enjoy this beautiful evening.
