Montauk

Last weekend Matt, Logan and I headed out to Montauk for the weekend. It is about a 3 hour drive from NYC and where a TON of Now Yorkers summer on the weekends. While I never did a share house in my younger days, it has been fun going back with my little family and exploring the town, beaches and all Montauk has to offer.

We went up on Friday night for an event with Anthropologie and decided to make a weekend of it. The weather was picture perfect and Logan enjoyed every single second spent outdoors. If in the market for some beach essentials, these few items caught my eye:

WHERE WE STAYED:

We stayed at Hero Beach Club and it was AWESOME. If it rained you’d be in a little bit of trouble because all the fun features were outdoors, but 100% recommend staying here. They have a large outback area with tables for dining, fire pits and are steps from the beach. They also have a pool (fun Sunday Funday scene) and great beach set up with the most comfortable “lounge chairs”.

While they don’t have an in-house restaurant, they still offer a small menu while at the pool, complimentary breakfast (with the best bagels) and have a bar.

If traveling with a baby, here are a few items we always pack with us to make life easy (and fun):

Pop and Go Travel Bassinet – Matt’s co-worker got this for us and it is amazing. Super compact and we used it at the beach and while grabbing a night cap by the fire pits at night. At night we prepped Logan for bed (changed into pj’s swaddled and gave him his last feeding) and then all we had to do was transfer him from this into the pack and play in our room.

Portable Sound Machine – Making napping on the go simple and easy.

Bjorn Bouncer – I talk about this one all the time, but it is such a great chair and collapses flat making it super easy for travel. It is nice having an option for Logan to hang out in and play.

Polaroid – We love bringing one of these along to capture moments and have the printed instantly. I have been taking snaps from each trip and plan to add them to his baby book.

Firefly Toy – Logan’s favorite! We bring this everywhere.

WHERE WE ATE:

The Crow’s Nest – We had dinner here our first night with the Anthropologie team and it was delicious! They have a beautiful location with a lush backyard that winds down to a path that leads to the beach. We saw such an incredible sunset and they even have a bunch of lounge chairs and a pop-up bar down by the water.

The Gig Shack – This is one of our low key favorite spots right in town. 110% get the muscles and the fish tacos are also great!

Duryea’s – This place reminded me of a beach club in Greece. A fun vibe right on the water with a great raw bar selection.

Bostwick’s Chowder House– Such a good spot for seafood, we have done takeout and this time dined in. Highly recommend the lobster tacos, seared tuna app, clam strips (always a fav) and coconut spring rolls!

Happy Bowls – Love a yummy açaí bowl, so we popped in here one morning after grabbed iced coffees at Blue Stone Lane (another fave).

WHAT TO DO:

Lounge at the pool and/or beach – this is a must when coming out this time of year! When we were there the temperature was perfect, especially in the shade. Logan was living up his first beach experience and embracing all the beach naps.

Montauk Brewing Company – Kid and dog friendly and primarily outdoors. Come here and enjoy a beer…their watermelon is a personal favorite!

Walk around town – Lots of cute little shops to pop in and out of. That is where I picked up the Montauk sweatshirt for Logan (and one for myself).

Wolffer Estate Vineyard – I had been dying to come here as their rose is one of my absolute favorites and we heard how beautiful this vineyard was. We stopped here for a glass of wine on our way back to the city and it truly was picturesque. We sat outside and soaked in the last little bit of the day. I kept things causal with my outfit and paired this crossbody bag from Sole Society so I could be hands free with a comfy pair of sandals. It was the perfect way to end one of the best weekends of summer.
