Two Products I Always Travel With

best skincare products for travel

I know I typically share my outfits with you guys when I am packing and traveling, but I don’t always remember to share some of my favorite beauty/skincare products that always come along! Just before our trip to Maine I swung by Bloomingdale’s to restock on my go-to “Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm” from Clinique and also picked up their new “Dramatically Different Hydrating Gel” to try. My skin has been SO DRY this summer. I blame it honestly on the crazy humidity we have experienced. The gel comes in two sizes, a 4.2oz (which I brought along since I was checking a bag) and a .5oz, which works perfect if you are carrying on! If you aren’t familiar, Clinique’s new purity statement is “No Parabens. No Phthalates. No Fragrance. Just Happy Skin”, which is exactly what you want when looking at skincare!

I apply the hydrating gel morning and night after I wash my face. It’s a super lightweight , oil-free water jelly that locks in hydration for 24 hours. What makes this product different than others is that it also helps protect from pollution, which is key when living in (or visiting) a big city! Over the past year or so I have educated myself about how pollution is affecting our skin in a negative way. Pollution can cause uneven skin tone and accelerated aging, all things we all want to avoid. It is important to find products and/or take the extra step to make sure we are reducing the amount of pollution intake.

As for the cleansing balm, this stuff is as good as gold. I would say about two years ago I leaned the difference between a cleaning balms and a typical makeup remover, and it has been such a game changer. A little goes a long way, and the balm goes from a solid to a silky oil when worked into your skin. Application is easy: place a bit of balm on your fingertips and then gently work into your dry skin, focusing on your eyes where more makeup builds up. Then rinse with warm water. What I loved about this hotel (and actually do this at home) is they had a dark colored washcloth that was designated for makeup removal so you don’t stain your white linens! Such an easy and simple solution to make the entire process seamless.

If you are in a hurry to pick up a product before a trip or heading out of town, don’t forget that Bloomingdale’s offers a “buy online and pick-up in store that same day” option so you can save time! For products I know I need, I find myself doing this more often than not, so I am in and out in less than 5 minutes.
