Transitioning Your Wardrobe Into Spring

The thought of transitioning your wardrobe into spring can sound a bit scary at first, but my goal with today’s blog post is to walk you step by step through a few key factors that can make all the difference. As the seasons start to shift, I usually start my search for spring pieces and pieces to build into my current wardrobe from Nordstrom. One of my favorite sections to look is under their New Arrivals. Each day pieces are being added and it is a great way to see what is new and trending at the moment (and to snap something before it sells out). As always, Nordstrom offers free shipping both ways so it is easy to pick a bunch of pieces, try everything on and then send back what isn’t working. Have fun with it and try new styles. Don’t be afraid to hop outside your comfort zone!

  1. Start with the shoes – This may sound silly, but it is one of the best ways to transition your look (or start to) into the next season. As much as I have loved wearing boots and booties, I am ready for a change with more spring appropriate footwear. These Gucci loafers were a Christmas gift from Matt and something that has been on my wish list for quite some time. Not only are they amazing for travel, but they are the easiest shoe to slide on and off and truly can go with anything. The open back helps create a more spring look since we are loosing the chunkiness and bulk of a boot or closed toe shoe.
  2. Layer it up – I keep counting down the days until I can pack away my winter coat for good, but an easy way to stay warm and not have to worry about wearing a heavy coat is to layer up. A camel blazer will always be a staple I think every gal needs in their wardrobe. So versatile and the perfect building block. I tossed this lightweight sweater on underneath and wrapped around a cozy grey scarf to finish the look.
  3. Embrace black denim – Truly, I think black denim will always be my absolute favorite. I own two pairs of these distressed denim and wear them year round. While eventually they aren’t worn as often in the summer, leading up to the warmer months I love styling them in a way that is weather appropriate, but also pushing the spring fashion a little bit. My biggest tip is to keep things neutral and pair them with a lighter color as the months warm up. You don’t want to look too harsh from head to toe (which I fully embrace during the winter months).
